UC Food Home Safety

 

UC Food Home Safety includes many links to presentations, publications, and other websites with information related to the production, harvest, and processing of foods. The emphasis is on microbial food safety but many other subjects related to food such as biotechnology, food quality and food security are also addressed.

Pressure Gauge Testing Locations
   

Pressure canners need to be tested annually to ensure dial gauges are accurate.  If your dial gauge is not accurate, it is not correctly reading pressure which may result in under or over processing and unsafe food.

Cottage Food Operations (CFOs)
   

The Cottage Foods bill allows individuals to prepare and/or package certain non-potentially hazardous foods in private-home kitchens referred to as “cottage food operations” (CFOs). UC Master Food Preservers don’t give advice on CFO products since they are for commercial use.
