Donate

Since the creation of the first UC Master Food Preserver Program in 1982, certified UC Master Food Preserver Volunteers have shared their knowledge and passion for food safety and preservation with local communities, donating more than a quarter million hours of volunteer service. Through our commitment to our mission of extending research based information to the public, the UC Master Food Preserver Program is creating a healthier California.

Making a Difference in Your Community

UC Master Food Preservers strive for healthier communities. We teach community members about preventing food spoilage and food borne illnesses, reducing food waste, increasing food security, creating pantry staples to incorporate into meals throughout the year, preserving low-salt and low-sugar foods, and creating delicious meals. We give residents the skills and knowledge to make a difference in their everyday food usage.

UC Master Food Preservers increase science literacy through on-line and hands-on classes, encouraging community members to explore preserved food options, learn new skills and make healthier food choices.

Annual Appeal: Support for Today

The UC Master Food Preserver Program would not thrive without the generous support of community members like you. Support the positive impacts across California of the UC Master Food Preserver Program by making a charitable contribution to the Annual Fund.

Your donations will increase our capacity to deliver more hands-on learning opportunities, workshops and online programming, as well as outreach at Farmers Markets, County Fairs, and local Food Banks.

Download our 2021 Annual Appeal letter for examples of our community work.

Planned Giving and Bequests

Donors may also establish income-producing gifts such as charitable gift annuities or charitable remainder trusts, which benefit them during their lifetimes with up-front income tax savings and often at a higher return.

Stock and Appreciated Securities

Avoid capital gains tax and claim a federal tax charitable deduction for the full appreciated value of long-term (held more than 1 year) securities (stocks, bonds, mutual fund shares). In order to qualify, gifts must be transferred directly from your brokerage account to the Regents of the University of California. Please contact Kelly Scott for more information.
